European Justice: equality and non- discrimination – Purpose of the site

European Justice in the fight against Inequalities and Discrimination

Purpose of the Site: Helping you in your approach to European law on equality and non-discrimination

With an easy-to-navigate site thanks to keywords, tags and categories

And analytical fact sheets written by Pierre Déjean (a university lawyer from Toulouse), for each ruling of the European Court of Justice, on the fight against inequality and discrimination . They are easily accessible by keywords, and labels, simple and clear (around 60 pages for a ruling, compared to 3 to 6 for a fact sheet). We provide you with the completeness of recent European case law in this area. Updates are delivered monthly, saving you valuable time and money.

The fundamental work of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) is largely unknown, despite its central role in the interpretation and structuring of European law. This lack of awareness is largely due to the fact that its judgments have a complex structure and their length can be off-putting.

Our website provides clear, explanatory fact sheets for each court ruling. There is also access to key texts and, where appropriate, legal doctrine. The website can be useful to legal scholars, students, and everyone else.

OPERATION AND NAVIGATION

The site offers tools available to users :

1 – Short fact sheets (1 to 3 pages), linked to the full fact sheets (3 to 6 pages), published as soon as the judgment is published on the “Curia” website (official website of the CJEU). This fact sheet contains a brief description of the Court’s reasoning and the solution given. The aim is to obtain succinct information on the news feed.

2 – The “  reasonings of the Court  ” developed in the full file are divided according to key concepts/words resulting from an analysis of the Court’s case law in previous years. There are 80 of them. The objective is to allow the monitoring of a specific problem through the Court’s case law.

3 – An entry through 6 Directives regulating non-discrimination and inequalities .

This site is not an advisory site on case law or European law issues. More authoritative voices than ours are working on this, and we cannot compete with them. It aims to provide clear, precise, and concise information on case law in matters of equality and non-discrimination . In this sense, but in this sense only, it is also intended as a decision-making tool.

You can chat with Pierre Déjean, ask questions, request explanations and advice (within the limits of customary reservations and without taking sides). You can also write to him by email.
